  • What is it: PHTLS is an intensive pre-hospital trauma care seminar, which requires preparation and study.

  • Purpose Η training for all healthcare professionals working in the pre-hospital setting who support severely injured patients from the moment of injury, with on-scene management, transport management, through to comprehensive handover.Injury team of the Emergency Departments.

     
  • Target The reduction of predictable unfair deaths and disabilities from trauma. The application of proper pre-hospital care can often make the difference between life and death, between temporary, severe, or permanent disability, and a life full of productivity and well-being.

  • Who is it for: The programme is aimed at Doctors, Paramedics-Ambulance Crews, Nurses, Firefighters, Volunteers, and others (The theoretical knowledge is the same for everyone).

  • Cost / Tuition Fees 360 € Upon payment of the subscription fee, registration is confirmed. It includes: registration for the PHTLS programme, books, equipment, models, remuneration for support staff, breakfast and lunch.

  • Programme Structure: The programme's structure includes training with lectures and training on practice stations, which aim to provide systematic training on a specific casualty management protocol.

  • Treat as You Go Philosophy: The programme goes beyond the simple «Scoop and Run» and also «Stay and Play» (which wastes valuable time). It is based on the «Treat as You Go» method, meaning addressing and resolving life-threatening conditions during the systematic assessment.

  • Response Protocol

    • Safe approach to the injury site.

    • Rapid and accurate primary assessment and urgent extrication (if required).

    • Recognition and management of life-threatening situations (hypoxaemia, shock, etc.).

    • Knowledge of the correct immobilisation of the injured person.

    • Performing a full secondary assessment.

    • Fast and safe transfer to the nearest and most appropriate healthcare facility.

Training Programme & Thematic Areas

The PHTLS is an intensive seminar lasting 16 hours which combines theoretical lectures and practical exercises. The core modules include:

  • Dealing with External and internal bleeding.
